ENERGY EFFICIENCY

New technological installations for the municipality of Almese

In the municipality of Almese, Orbyta Engineering participated in the implementation of an energy upgrading project aimed at transforming a building into a Relais for the clients of an industrial plant. The main objective was to improve energy efficiency and ensure the comfort of the spaces.

The energy upgrading project in Almese

The structure is developed in a four-story above-ground block, flanked by a newly built three-story above-ground block. This intervention not only improves the building’s energy performance, but also redefines its function, a multipurpose place where it will be possible to take advantage of various services such as a wellness center, restaurant, meeting room or overnight place.

Installation of heating, cooling and domestic hot water (DHW) production system

The redevelopment has included a complete overhaul of the existing systems starting with the generation system for which propane heat pumps will be installed, machines using one of the most environmentally friendly refrigerants in circulation with a GWP of 3. This system will be able to satisfy both the heating and cooling service and the sanitary service, providing hot water for each room in the facility.
In order to ensure greater reliability, two wall-mounted condensing boilers have been provided, which will have a back-up function in remote cases of malfunction or unexpected adverse weather conditions.
The emission system consists of:
– Radiant floor panels for space heating.
– Floor fan coils and ceiling cassettes for cooling
– advanced control systems for centralized management of indoor units, improving efficiency and comfort.
This system provides high operational flexibility, allowing operation to be adapted to the specific needs of each environment.

Controlled Mechanical Ventilation (CMV) System

The system will be equipped with high-efficiency heat recovery to improve indoor air quality and reduce energy losses. Controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV) systems are a plant solution that ensures proper air exchange and ventilation in a room, without the need to open windows. Therefore, it is planned to use heat recuperators, for each room that will be installed partly in the false ceiling as in the case of the rooms and partly in the technical room present in the basement as in the case of the SPA or the restaurant area. The heat recovery units will take advantage of the aforementioned fan coils to send fresh air into the room and this will be possible because the fan coils used will be induction, or high-efficiency hybrid hydronic terminals capable of improving indoor air quality and occupant well-being, as well as cooling the room.

Pianta Piano Terra - Impianto Radiante a Pavimento

Project Goals.

Thanks to the adoption of innovative technologies and sustainable solutions, the facility will become a landmark for the industrial plant, which will finally be able to accommodate its customers in a comfortable place with all services, in keeping with the innovation and ecological sustainability that reflect the company’s own values.
