Piobesi sports facility: innovation and sustainability
Intervention of redevelopment sports facility Municipality of Piobesi
Orbyta Engineering carried out the energy upgrading project of the Piobesi municipal sports facility, an intervention that combined technological innovation and environmental sustainability. Our work focused on efficient use of energy resources while ensuring a positive impact on the local area.

Design and construction management
In the context of this project, our main objective is to combine the functionality of the sports facility with the need to reduce energy consumption while optimizing comfort for users. The design includes a thorough analysis of the specific needs of the municipality and a careful assessment of available resources. We then developed solutions that ensure maximum efficiency by integrating advanced technologies and sustainable materials.
The initial feasibility study phase was crucial in defining the project guidelines. Subsequently, we moved on to the executive design of the architectural and technological systems, constantly maintaining an open dialogue with the client to ensure that the proposed solutions were in line with expectations. Construction management was conducted with precision, monitoring each phase of the intervention to ensure on-time delivery and quality of the achievements.

Implemented technological solutions
A central aspect of the project is the use of geothermal energy as the primary source of energy for heating the facility. By installing a system based on heat pumps fed by groundwater, a balance between energy efficiency and sustainability was achieved. This solution proved ideal not only for its high performance but also for its ability to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, an achievement in line with the goals of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP).
In addition to geothermal energy, we designed a ventilation system with cross-flow heat recovery units. This technology makes it possible to transfer thermal energy from expelled air to injected air, ensuring optimal climate control of indoor spaces. The efficiency of the system helped minimize energy losses while providing a comfortable environment for users.
The building’s roof was optimized through the installation of polycrystalline photovoltaic panels, which harness solar energy to power the entire facility. This intervention not only reduced operating costs but also made the sports facility energy self-sufficient. To complete the picture, we integrated an adjustable LED lighting system designed to adapt to the specific needs of sports activities, ensuring significant energy savings and long operational life.

The intervention carried out led to a significant transformation of the sports facility, both from a technological and managerial point of view. Thanks to the solutions adopted, energy consumption has been drastically reduced, resulting in economic savings for the municipality. The air conditioning and ventilation system has significantly improved user comfort, while the introduction of renewable energy has made the facility a model of sustainability for the local community.
From an environmental point of view, the project represents a concrete step toward the reduction of CO₂ emissions and the responsible use of natural resources. The Municipality of Piobesi has thus been able to demonstrate its commitment to energy transition and community welfare, setting itself as a virtuous example for other local realities.
