Energy efficiency for an educational institution
Energy efficiency intervention for a public facility in Turin, Italy
The project focused on the energy upgrading and extraordinary maintenance of a number of school buildings in the city of Turin, with the aim of improving energy efficiency, reducing consumption and meeting the sustainability standards set by the NRP.
This initiative is part of a larger plan to transform public buildings into more sustainable and efficient facilities, contributing to the ecological transition and improving the quality of educational spaces.

Energy analysis and diagnosis
The preliminary phase involved a thorough analysis of the school’s state of affairs.
Through inspections and surveys conducted with the help of drones, detailed data were collected on the structure and its energy performance.
The energy diagnosis revealed significant critical issues, such as:
- Obsolete lighting systems with high energy consumption.
- Insufficient thermal insulation of dispersing surfaces.
- Heating systems inefficient and inadequate for modern needs.
These analyses formed the basis for the development of a targeted intervention plan aimed at resolving the identified issues and improving the overall performance of the building.

Relamping intervention, thermal insulation and plant upgrading
The architectural and plant design of the school was developed with an integrated approach focusing on efficiency and sustainability.
- One of the main interventions involved the lighting system, which was replaced with energy-efficient LED solutions. This technology has not only reduced consumption, but also improved the quality of lighting in school environments, making them more welcoming and functional for students and staff.
- The dispersing surfaces of the school have undergone advanced thermal insulation works, using high-performance materials. This work significantly reduced heat loss, increasing the overall efficiency of the building and improving indoor comfort during all seasons. ì
- The heating system was modernized to ensure even heat distribution and more efficient energy management. Innovative systems have been adopted to ensure reduced consumption, minimizing CO ₂.
Results and benefits
The interventions implemented have had a significant impact on several fronts:
- Energy Efficiency
- Environmental Sustainability
- Indoor comfort
This project stands as a virtuous example of how public buildings can be transformed into sustainable, efficient, and suitable facilities for modern needs.
